In 2014, research was carried out to establish whether the performing arts, in the form of Community Theatre had any impact and could be used as a tool for peacebuilding in conflict ridden society. Kenya and Kibera in particular had emerged from Post Election Violence and its effects in 2007/2008.
Results showed that Community Theatre had potential for peacebuilding. Apart from being widely considered as educational, it was inclusive and entertaining, distracting people from boredom and understanding peace from a different perspective. In addition, it was a way of identifying potential artistic talent in youth.
